Bringing Big Data to the Good Guys

Recently the National League of Cities and the Data-Smart City Solutions news site sponsored by Harvard released an article on AJWI's work in San Francisco, CA. It outlines some of the obstacles and solutions for getting to useful multi-agency data management. The NLC has been active in spreading a wide range of lessons and building learning circles for deepening and expanding the best practices in this space. Check it out at Data-Smart City Solutions.

CANS Work Expands

In 2013 we have seen our CANS work expand to three other counties in California. We also released a case study done with the AIIM Higher program in San Francisco regarding use of a truncated CANS for service planning to support a joint Probation/Mental Health model initiative. Congratulations FII!

On May 27th, 2010 Family Independence Initiative CEO and President Maurice Lim Miller attended a White House event on foundation support for the Social Innovation Fund. In her speech, First Lady Michelle Obama highlighted FII as a project where "...friendships and social networks, not caseworkers, are the key to helping families overcome poverty."
